PACTri fun swim/bike/run event

posted 6 May 2011 06:37 by PAC Tri
Hello all PACTri members

We are planning to hold an evening fun event that hopefully will involve everyone in the club - Ironmen ..... single discipline entrants.... those of us just starting out

The plan is:

DATE : Wednesday 29 JUNE .Registration 6.30-7 pm. Briefing 7.10 Event commences at 7.30

Location Open Air Pool Portishead

Distances 200m or 400m swim/15 K bike/ 5K run (3 times round lake grounds)

Options You can enter as an individual the full sprint Tri event / any two disciplines/ just one discipline/or as  a team of two or three. We could help put together teams if you wish.

Other arrangements To help make it as realistic as possible while still being fun, and not a race,  we are planning:

  • Bike racking security to normal Tri event standards
  • Chip timing
  • A qualified referee who will not deduct time penalties but who will point out if you would have been penalised in a full Tri event
Cost In order to make the event viable we need 40 full event equivalent entrants - approx half the club numbers. £20 for the full event, £14 for two disciplines, cost for one discipline To be decided

Social Afterwards Penny Oakley is planning food/drink afterwards

Volunteers We will be entirely dependent on volunteers. So if you cannot take part in one of the disciplines but could volunteer or can encourage  a friend/partner/lover to volunteer that would be very much appreciated

Entrant qualification For insurance reasons entrants need to be club members although we may be able to take some guests if they have their own event insurance

Payment A week before the event

Organisers Kev Daniels and Penny Oakley with hopefully plenty of help

What to do now

We need to assess by 23 May at the very latest if there are sufficient entrants to make the event viable.
So please e-mail back

1 Are you able  to take part?
2 If so which disciplines do you want to enter [swim/bike/run]
3 Can you either volunteer yourself or provide a volunteer

It is really important to us to receive  a positive response even if it is a 'no' - we do not want to call it off only to find that there were several potential entrants who had not responded.

Any ideas  It is your event so please let Penny (penny@gandpoakley.co.uk) or me know any comments you may have especially if they would encourage you to enter

Looking forward to your replies and hoping we can make this work between us all
