Club funding policy

As a club, we occasionally get asked if we would help club members gain professional coaching qualifications.

We have recently updated the process for applying for funding to make it more transparent to club members and to ensure the club gains benefit from such funding.

The process for applying for funding is set out in the document below if you feel having read the process that you could be eligible, you can ask for an application form via Pat Garland using the club email address –

It’s also worth noting that other professional organisations offer funding to club volunteers where appropriate (British Cycling for example), so it may be worth exploring these options as well.

Held by our swimming coach Jax, these sessions will all take place on a Sunday afternoon from 5.00-6.00 pm on the following dates when the tide times work and there should be space on the lake. However, the lake is free to the public so we cannot guarantee how many will be there on the day. The sessions provided the elements provide for a safe environment  to swim in.

Members only training time trial and climb

Kev has been working hard behind the scenes to organise a members only time trial on Sunday 25th October.
The event will be chip timed thanks to Dave Bray who owns  an Event Timing company helped by Jim Cahill. We can replace lost energy and dissect the event over Coffee and cake at the Costa on the Marina in Portishead.
Due to Dave Bray’s generosity the cost of the event is free to members, thank you from us all for the help Dave.
This is an event for everyone in  the club. If you are more a social rider please don’t be put off. Slower riders wont finish last as they start generally before the quickies and as we set off at 1 minute intervals the last riders cant catch everyone.
  • Start Time 9 am
  • Registration from 8.40
  • Briefing 8.55
The route is  a near-double circuit of the coast road, Walton in Gordano, Valley Road, Coast road. The route is shown on the map my ride link below

The Hill climb up Valley road will also be timed on both circuits. The top of the climb will be approx 30 m before the roundabout
TWO volunteers please to man the timing equipment for the Hill climb. Other volunteers are welcome to help marshal too.
