The club was founded in 2006 to support local athletes with an interest in triathlon. Since then we’ve grown steadily in numbers. As a club, we support everyone from interested beginners through to GB Age Group participants and everyone in between!

 

We run a selection of regular and more seasonal training sessions for pool and open water swimming, cycling and running – along with the more specific ‘transition’ skills training unique to multisport. We have regular club training triathlons and duathlons that use our incredible and beautiful locale in both Clevedon (based in Marine Lake) and Portishead (based at the Lido).

 

Our coaching team has a wealth of skills and experience to cater for everyone that wants to develop their abilities and participation.  

Our activities

 

 

The club offers a wide variety of activities throughout the year and not all of them involve exercise!!!

 

Swimming training 

 

We run group specific sessions for everyone from the beginner to the more advanced swimmer, or those who want to just improve their technique. Sessions are held once a week and in the summer months, there are additional outdoor and open water sessions. There is a charge for these sessions to cover the cost of the pool and the coach.

Members do organise ad hoc events, these are normally posted on the club Facebook site and through the club email or Spond.

 

 

Cycling

 

We have social club rides every Saturday morning and these cater for all levels of cycling. These are not coached sessions but allow the opportunity to ride with others and either chat or push yourself depending on the ride you choose.  The rides are advertised on the Facebook page and email, we ask you to sign up via the Spond app so we know who to expect. The ride advertisement will include the length of ride, climb to be covered and the planned pace on the flat. These cost nothing to enter, but we do ask that you have cycling insurance or are a paid member. 

We run mid-week rides during the summer months, and run a club TT every year.

There are Ad hoc rides organised by members usually shared on the Facebook page.

 

 

Running

 

Takes place once a week, typically Thursdays. The venue rotates between Clevedon (Meet by Marine lake) and Portishead (Meet outside Parish Wharf in the winter and Lake Grounds in the summer). These sessions will focus on either speed or hills and cover approx 5k per session. They are organised in such a way that no one is left behind or needs to feel like they are holding others up.

 

 

Club Triathlons

 

We organise club triathlons through the Summer (May – October). We have a swimming pool event once a month and open water swim event once a month. These are sprint distance events so are great as part of your training programme. Through the winter we organise duathlons (running and cycling).

Chat and curry nights

 

These have been a huge success with club members. We invite guest speakers to give insight into a whole range of topics. This can be about training methods, nutrition, fitness or their own personal experiences. After these exhausting sessions, there is nothing better to discuss the content over a curry!
