Club training
The club offers regular weekly training sessions in the disciplines of Triathlon in a friendly, welcoming setting. The aim of the sessions is to promote triathlon and multisport events in the local area to our members and the wider community. Each session is run in accordance with club risk assessments and aims to provide a safe space for all our members to improve/maintain their fitness to help them achieve their own personal goals.
With triathlon as a seasonal sport, we offer a variety of other training sessions throughout the year that includes -
-
Winter Fitness plans
-
Specific Transition Training
-
Strength and Conditioning Sessions
-
Open Water Swim Training
-
Zwift training rides
-
Coached Cycle at Odd Down Cycle Track.
We have members that regularly attended sessions purely to keep fit and members who have already qualified for the age group GB team – We also have members with all abilities in between. We aim to be an inclusive club for anyone that joins us and our training offering represents that throughout the year.
Non-members are welcome to join the club activities but are limited to a maximum of 3 before they are asked to join – They must be able to evidence they have suitable 3rd party insurance before joining a ride.
Hopefully, we will see you at one of our sessions in the near future!
Swimming training
Wednesday night is swim night with sessions held at Strode Road in the winter months and at Portishead Open Air Pool during the summer.
Aimed at all abilities the session lasts 1 hour and is designed to offer a good workout to all levels of swimmers with tips on technique and improvement offered throughout the sessions. As these are coached sessions and not lessons you will need to be able to swim some freestyle for them to be suitable. If you are unsure of the suitability of these sessions, then please contact the club to discuss.
Please note there is a charge for these sessions to cover the cost of the pool hire which is paid in advance through Spond.

Cycling
Saturday is Club Ride Day with several groups going out each week throughout the year. The average pace and total mileage for each group is advertised by the ride leaders before the rides begins.
With the variety of rides available, there is sure to be one suitable for your requirements, no matter what your riding experience or current fitness levels are. There are also summer rides in the lighter evenings on a Thursday night.
Please note that to attend a group ride you will need suitable 3rd party insurance. This can be purchased from several sources, but club members are encouraged to join our national governing body, Triathlon England, where they will receive suitable insurance that covers them for all club activities, including cycling
We also run Zwift club rides on Tuesday evenings in the off season, these will be a max of an hour, keep the group together on screen but allow you to train at the right watts for you. A fun way to keep riding through the cold wet winter months.

Running training
Thursday Nights see club members lace up their running shoes, with evening sessions alternating weekly between Clevedon and Portishead.
These are normally group interval sessions, aimed at all abilities with the goal of improving fitness and technique each week.
Lasting approx. 1 hour including a warmup and a cool down the sessions are led by the club's trained coaches.
All ability runners are welcome and the sessions are designed so no matter what your current fitness levels are, you won’t be held up or be left behind.
